Electrically conductive materials are insulated with an insulator. For the production of insulators, only solids are considered that are non-conductors and have the highest possible specific resistance as well as a high resistance to dielectric breakdown. This separates the conductors so that no voltage exchange can occur. The word is also used for insulation, thermal insulation and sealing. Here it is not used correctly.
